This short bonus episode pulls together highlights from season one, all centered on one idea: gratitude. Nikkiey Stott explains that when you focus on gratitude for your physical well-being, it boosts your motivation to do the things that actually get results, like working out and eating right. It also gives you a more positive outlook on the challenges you'll hit along the way and nudges you toward healthier choices.
Nikkiey talks about what happens when you challenge yourself under a barbell or in any hard workout. It's you versus you, and pushing through when you believe you can't teaches you who you really are. She uses the ice cube analogy to explain why you have to keep showing up even when nothing seems to change. When you slip up, she says, skip the spiral of self-criticism, figure out what led to it, recalibrate and keep going. Keeping promises to yourself isn't just discipline. It's self-care and self-respect.
She closes by asking you to fall in love with the process instead of letting the end goal control you. Live in every macro tracked, every workout done and every bottle of water finished. And be grateful that your body has the capability and the opportunity to train. That gratitude, she says, is where real motivation comes from.

What should I do when I slip up on my fitness plan?

How do I enjoy the fitness process instead of hating it?
Nikkiey says to fall in love with the process and live in the moment of every macro tracked, every workout done and every bottle of water completed. Focus on what you can control today rather than letting the end goal control you.

Nikkiey: Real quick, the only ask I could ever have of you guys is to help spread the word so we can help more women lose body fat, build muscle, reach their goals, and feel insanely confident. And the only way we can do that is if you rate, review, and share this podcast. So the single thing I ask you to do is leave a review. It will take you 10 seconds, and it will mean the absolute world to me and may change the world of someone else.
When you focus on gratitude in fitness and your physical well-being, it boosts motivation for you to actually do the things that you want to do and should do that are going to get you the results you want, like working out and eating right. It fosters a positive outlook on the physical challenges that you may encounter along your journey. And another one is that it encourages healthy choices.
If you feel like there's a part of you that is bold and is confident, I can tell you, by going and getting underneath a barbell, or by going and pushing some weight in the gym, or by going and challenging yourself to do whatever it is that you want to do with running or calisthenics or CrossFit or all of those things, if you just do that, you will learn more about your true self, because it's you versus you in those moments. It's you versus you under the barbell. It's you in your own mind being like, you can do this or you cannot do this. And when you believe that you cannot, but you still push through, guys, I promise you, you unlock a whole new level of understanding who you are in that moment.
Do not decide to stop. Keep going. Keep showing up consistently, because if you keep doing the work for the next three months, guess what? You're that ice cube sitting on the table in front of you. The room went from 25 to 31. Bam. Zero to three months. Bam. Fourth month, 32 degrees. You've unlocked this change.
When we falter, instead of spiraling into self-criticism, instead of spiraling into this mental landslide, into a rabbit hole, into spiraling like "I cannot do this," we can assess: what led to this slip-up? What led to me not keeping this promise to myself? And then you can recalibrate and continue forward. And trust me, if you just keep at it with your journey, you can get to that point. Trust me, trust me, trust me. I am living proof that you can get there. You just have to go through these things. But most importantly, you have to keep these promises to yourself and you have to build this mental fortitude.
Okay, so keeping the promises to yourself emphasizes this profound relationship between your actions, your internal reward mechanisms, and your emotional and mental health. And keeping promises to oneself is not just a matter of discipline, but it's an essential component of your self-care and self-respect.
This may not be like, here are macros, here's a workout, let's talk more about the science of things. But this aspect of what I just talked about today is so freaking important for you to be extremely successful on your fitness journey and turn this into a lifestyle that you just live.
Fall in love with the process. Fall in love with your journey. Fall in love with becoming the best version of yourself. Live in the moment of every single day, of every single macro tracked, of every single workout done, of every single bottle of water completed, right? Live in those moments. Be in control of what you can do today that will better you tomorrow, instead of letting that end state control the hell out of you so that nothing along the way is satisfying. You just hate the process because you're like, why am I not there? Right? Many of you guys have that type of mentality when you're embarking on a new journey. And I'm saying it's completely normal, and I just want to help you understand how to detach from that so that you can enjoy the journey that you are on.
When you are grateful for your body, this is a great example for you to experience gratitude in this moment. Think with me on this. If you can be grateful for your body's capability and for being given the opportunity to exercise, this will often lead to greater intrinsic motivation for you to go and work out. If you right now can experience and be grateful for the fact that your body has the opportunity to work out, will you not find the motivation to go and work out? Your body is a powerhouse. It is a machine, and you have the capability and the opportunity. If you've got all four limbs working, you know, you're here on this earth, you have the ability to go and work out. You just have to make the choice.
Real quick, the only ask I could ever have of you guys is to help spread the word so we can help more women lose body fat, build muscle, reach their goals, and feel insanely confident. And the only way we can do that is if you rate, review, and share this podcast. So the single thing I ask you to do is leave a review. It will take you 10 seconds, and it will mean the absolute world to me and may change the world of someone else.
