Overate Over a Long Weekend? Restart Today, Not Monday

A long weekend of beers, burgers and skipped workouts is not a failure. In this short rant and live coaching episode, recorded to air on Memorial Day, Nikkiey Stott tells you to see the weekend for what it was: you had a good time. Living this as a lifestyle means allowing those moments in balance and moderation. Treating them as a mess-up is what keeps women stuck in diet-culture, all-or-nothing thinking.

Nikkiey lays out the two ways your week can go. Stay in the 'I messed up' mindset and you will eat the leftovers, pour extra wine and half-ass your workouts until 'next Monday.' Or accept the weekend and make today the restart: take five to 30 minutes to plan your macros, prep your protein and meals, and put your workouts on the calendar so you build momentum for the rest of the week.

She also gives some tough love about summer. If you are crash dieting in April or May, you started late. Summer bodies are built from November through March. The women who built habits earlier bounce back from a holiday weekend much faster. Her advice is to take control today, build habits through summer, fall and winter, and show up to next summer in a completely different place.

Key takeaways

  • Look at a holiday weekend of burgers, beers and missed workouts as having a good time in balance and moderation, not as a failure.
  • Staying in an 'I messed up' mindset leads to eating leftovers, extra drinks and half-assed workouts while you wait for next Monday, so drop that thought right away.
  • Make today the day you restart instead of waiting until next Monday, whatever day you are listening.
  • Spend five to 10 minutes planning your macros if you are experienced with tracking, or up to half an hour if you are new, and treat it as time invested in your goals.
  • Prep your protein, plan your meals for the next few days and mark your workouts on your calendar with a set day and time to build positive momentum.
  • Summer bodies are built in the winter months, from November through March, not in April or May, so crash dieting right before summer will not give you the results you want.
  • Women who have already built supporting habits snap back from a holiday weekend much faster, so keep building habits through summer, fall and winter.
  • You are in control of, and responsible for, the choices that keep you consistent with your goals.

Questions answered

What should I do after overeating on a holiday weekend?

Nikkiey says to accept that you had a good time and that it is part of living this as a lifestyle in balance and moderation. Then make today the day you get back on track by planning your food, prepping protein and scheduling your workouts instead of waiting for next Monday.

Should I wait until next Monday to get back on track?

No. Nikkiey says waiting for next Monday leads to a week of leftovers, extra wine and half-assed workouts. Whatever day you are listening, start today.

How long should I spend planning my week after getting off track?

Nikkiey suggests five to 10 minutes if you are a veteran at tracking macros, or maybe half an hour if you are new. However long it takes, she calls it time invested in you and your goals.

When should I start working on my summer body?

According to Nikkiey, summer bodies are made in the winter, from November through March or even sooner. Starting with a crash diet in April or May will not give you the results you could have had by starting earlier.

Why do some women bounce back from a holiday weekend faster than others?

Nikkiey explains that women who started earlier have already built supporting habits. That makes it much easier to treat the weekend as a small blip and snap back quickly.

Nikkiey: Real quick, the only ask I could ever have of you guys is to help spread the word so we can help more women lose body fat, build muscle, reach their goals, and feel insanely confident. And the only way we can do that is if you rate, review, and share this podcast. So the single thing I ask you to do is leave a review. It will take you 10 seconds, and it will mean the absolute world to me and may change the world of someone else. You have the ability to take the control, post this podcast you're listening to, and switch the shit around. Start today. Start right now.

Hello, my friends. What's up? Welcome to the show. Welcome to The WarriorBabe Show with Nikkiey Stott, co-founder of WarriorBabe. On this podcast, we talk about mindset, methodologies, and tactics that will help you lose body fat, build muscle, be strong, and feel insanely confident. I am your host, Nikkiey Stott, and welcome, you guys, to episode number 61, where I want to dive into a rant. I'm feeling a rant right now. I'm feeling like I want to give you guys some live coaching right here, right now on this podcast.

So I hope you guys are down. This podcast is going to be airing on Memorial Day. Meaning that maybe this past weekend, you had some beers, you had some burgers, you really didn't work out as you were planning to. Maybe some of you guys are doing the Murph. And maybe you're too far in your head, like, y'all fucked up. So I want to just offer you guys some love right now, some coaching right now, so that the outcome is that you don't look at this past weekend as a fuck-up.

But instead, you look at it like, okay, it's in the past. Today is today. And I have the rest of the week to get my shit together. Actually, I have the day to get my shit together, so that I don't roll all of these things from this past weekend into the rest of my week. And why I say that is because, look, if you stay in a failure mindset that you fucked up or that you went off plan or you weren't perfect or you had these burgers and beers and you had a good time.

First of all, I want you guys to look at it like you had a good time. That's fucking awesome. This whole thing about a lifestyle and living a lifestyle is you allowing that to happen, but having it happen in balance and moderation, okay? And not allowing yourself to feel restricted, like you were in a setting like that and you had to say no to the beers and the burgers and a good time. Because that's going to lead you to hate this lifestyle. It's going to lead you to despise trying to get healthy for yourself.

And it's just going to roll into actions and behaviors and things that just don't support you to come. But accept that this is part of the lifestyle. You're allowed to do these things in moderation and in balance. And this past weekend is what it is. You had a good time. You enjoyed some beers. You enjoyed some burgers. Okay, cool. Accept that, because that's allowed to be accepted. I hate, like, I've talked about diet culture and things like that.

It just creates this either-or type of mentality. And then you're just stuck in a bad place mentally when you're supposed to be enjoying this as a lifestyle. So point blank, that's number one. Number two is, okay, so if you can't seem to get past it, and that's why I want to do this live. Maybe you're just stuck so hard on the fact that you overindulged and you had some beers, you had some burgers and a good time.

That's going to be the motto today. Some beers and burgers and some good times. So let's say that you're just stuck in the mentality that you just fucked up. Right. So what I want to offer you in terms of some tough love is, let's stop that type of mentality right now. Right now, like Men in Black, laser zapping you to forget about all that stuff right now. Okay, and so it's gone. Because if it's not gone, you guys, listen to me.

What's going to happen for the next week for you? Two scenarios. What is going to happen if you keep this I-fucked-up mentality? And then what will happen if you just accept it? So first, let's talk about what will happen if you just stay in this fucked-up mentality. The rest of the week is going to be either eating leftovers or having a couple more glasses of wine each night, because it's like, well, I did, so I'll just start next Monday. And then all of your workouts, your movement, the things that you should be doing are going to be half-assed this week.

That's going to be the trajectory of your week if you stay in this mentality of, well, I can just start the following Monday. Fuck that. Okay, eliminate that thought process, those choices, the way that you're going to show up in that sense, from your mind right now.

Hey, hey, just want to drop a huge appreciation to you guys listening to the show. It means a lot. I hope you guys are enjoying it, and there's so much more to come. If you are enjoying it, hit the subscribe button. I'd appreciate that tons. And it would also help this podcast reach others who need to hear these messages, too. Thanks so much, guys. Let's get back to the show.

Now, if you accept that you had a good time, you had burgers, beers and had a fun time, and you understand it's part of your lifestyle, this is where the winners win. It is Monday. Okay. It's not that I'm going to wait until next Monday. It's, this is the Monday that I get my shit back together. I am not going to indulge in leftover food.

I am going to sit down and spend five to 10 minutes if you're a veteran at tracking macros, maybe a half an hour if you are new. At least spend the time, no matter how long it's going to take you. This is time invested in you and your goals. So you're going to sit down. You're going to do all the things that you know you need to do to get yourself ready for Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday. Okay. And what that looks like is making sure that your food is prepped. You have protein ready to go. You have the meals planned out for the next couple of days.

You have your schedule set. You have the workouts marked on your calendar, what time and what day you're going to get these done. And the most important thing is that, first of all, when you have those things and you're planning those things, you're creating positive momentum for yourself. So the only thing left for you to do is take action on the things that you've already planned. And if you've already planned these things, like I said, for momentum, the momentum should keep going.

And so, therefore, you're going to take the actions that are in alignment with you and the way you need to show up for yourself for the rest of the week. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday is all planned. And now it's not that you're waiting until next Monday. It's like, you made the choice. This is how winners win. You make the choice, because at the end of the day, you're in control of these things. You control what your mind says you are doing and capable of doing. And the actions that you can start taking right now, it's up to you to choose how you're going to take those actions.

So pulling it back, you could continue to make the choices of leftover food and half-assed workouts this week. Or you can make the choice today, right now, to build momentum towards getting all of your things ready and planning your workouts and crushing your workouts. Not making it half-assed. Not making this next week half-assed just because of this past weekend. Okay, so that is what I wanted to breathe into you guys today, and give you guys some tough love and live coaching.

Because I feel like a lot of people will spiral from this, and then they're not going to feel comfortable or confident in their skin when it comes to going to the beach. Because maybe Memorial Day weekend was what fucked it up for them, because they kept that type of mentality going, that lax mentality. Because now it's summer, and we're going to be going to the beach and we're going to be doing this. And then you guys don't feel comfortable and confident in your own skin when you're in a bathing suit.

And that's your fault. Okay, that's because you allowed that lax mentality to continue. It's nobody else's fault. That's one thing, you guys. When you are embarking on this journey, like I said, you make all the choices and it's all your responsibility. It's nobody else's blame. Nobody else's fault. Nobody else's responsibility but yours to choose the way that you are going to take or not take the actions that you know you need to take in order to stay on track and be consistent with your goals.

Because, look, I will guarantee you this. And this is another thing. If you're trying to work for your summer body right now, you're fucked. I'll just say that, point blank and honest. Your summer bodies are not made in April, May, March. They're made in the wintertime. They're made in November, December, January, February, March. Okay? Maybe even a little bit sooner than that. That is when you're working on your summer body.

So if you're trying to crash diet and do all of these things and change the way that you're eating and all these habits right now, I'm going to just be honest. You're not going to see the type of results that you could have seen if you started a little bit sooner. So keep that in mind going into this upcoming fall and winter. If you want to set a new goal for next summer, where you're rocking it and you feel comfortable and confident in your skin, start sooner.

Okay? Because those of you who did start sooner, started in November, December, January, February, March, April, May, and then you had Memorial Day weekend where you enjoyed yourself, you've already built all of the supporting habits. And that's why it's going to be a hell of a lot easier for you to get back to it and choose the route of accepting that it was a lifestyle and a little blip, and you enjoyed the burgers and beers and you had some fun. You're going to have all of the habits that you've already built to be able to snap back so much quicker than somebody who is like, yo, I'm just trying to rally this and drop this body fat as quick as possible.

See the changes in my body as quick as possible. Pop your body into a microwave and out in 30 seconds comes a toned body. I started in April, now it's May. You guys are going to have a lesser chance of being able to snap back. But I'm hoping that this podcast helps you to snap back, and that this will wake you up and shake you and you'll be like, okay, if I want to feel confident in my skin when we're going to the beach in July, I need to pull it back right now and not allow myself to veer off another week or two weeks, and it turns into you coming up to July and you're like, dude, I fucked up.

So if that is you, and you are somebody who started late and you haven't yet developed these habits I'm talking about, and you are maybe allowing yourself to sit in the weight of the past weekend, I want to just snap you here like I've already done and push you to snap back into the control that you had prior to Memorial Day weekend. Build more habits in the weeks and months to come. That way, come Labor Day weekend, you're able to feel what it actually feels like to be okay accepting that you can have the burgers and beers and have some fun, and live it as the lifestyle it is meant to be, and not this, let me crash diet and get the results as quick as possible for summer.

Labor Day weekend, come the end of summer, if you keep on track right now and push through this funk that you're feeling and get control today, you're going to be in so much better control come Labor Day. And then you're going to be able to build more habits into the fall and the winter, and then come next summer, you're in a completely different boat. That is what I want for all of you.

But you need to put aside this past weekend. Literally, following this podcast today, immediately afterwards. It's dropping at 9am, so whatever time you're listening to it, if you found yourself in the slump for the whole day, it's okay. You still have the remainder of the evening. Or even if you're listening to this on a Tuesday or Wednesday, you have the ability to take the control, post this podcast you're listening to, and switch the shit around.

So if it's a Wednesday or Thursday that you're listening to it and it's like, oh, but no, I'm just going to wait until Monday to start because I'm listening to this podcast later. Screw that. Start today. Start right now. Okay, so if you're listening to this on Monday, start on a Monday. If you're listening to this on Memorial Day, if you're listening to this Thursday of this week, or even into the future, and you're like, dude, Memorial Day screwed me, I'm in June now listening to this podcast and I still haven't got my shit together.

This is your wake-up call to get your shit together. Start doing the things that will create forward momentum for you so that you are in control, because you are in control. You are in control of all the choices that you make that are supporting you or not supporting you to get the results that you want. Okay, so there's my tough love for you guys. There's a live coaching podcast for you guys. And I hope that this helps you. I hope that this helps paint a whole picture.

I mean, there's a lot here that I just dropped. It's calling out you guys who feel like you're failing from this past weekend, but also calling out you guys who maybe are like, yo, it's May, or April, or March, I need to get my shit together for the summer. And then it's applauding the winners who have been at this for a while and know that this previous weekend is just a part of moderation and balance. And to the first two that I just spoke to, guys, I want you to be those winners.

I want you to feel what it feels like. And the things I talked about in this podcast that you need to do are what's going to help you feel that way in the days, weeks and months to come. So, appreciate you guys. Hope this helps you. And I'll see you guys in the next podcast. Peace out.
